The 12 Days of Creative Cheer Challenge

The end-of-year holiday season is an all-out feast for the eyes. Intricate snowflakes, twinkly lights, coloured baubles, piles of presents and sweet treats.

With a little good fortune and a lot of preparation I was able to find an outlet for my overflowing creative cup. Enter the 12 Days of Creative Cheer creative challenge. Collaborating with talented illustrators Britney Drotloff (The Brit Drop Shop), Tessa Wilson (The Wildflower Press) and Bella Boss (Bee Creates) we curated and co-hosted a list of twelve prompts, spread out across the month of December to challenge creatives from all disciplines to make and create throughout the most wonderful time of the year.

With a whole world of Christmas-themed motifs and inspiration at my fingertips I had an overwhelming amount of ideas. So I did exactly what I ask all of my lovely clients to do - I set myself a creative brief. I fashioned myself a colour palette that I had to stay loyal to. And I gave myself three distinct projects; create two surface patterns for wrapping paper, two greeting card illustrations and two scenes fit for a children’s storybook.

If you need a bit of christmas-themed inspiration, check out the hashtag #12daysofcreativecheer on Instagram to view the challenge entries from many talented creatives around the world.
